setting the date


im using slackware 8.0....what is the command to set the date? and probably the time for that matter....

The command to use is time.

'time' is used for timing the execution of a command. I don't think that's what you where asking. You can use the 'date' command for setting the time and the date.

Ex.

date 052408002002.00

The format is "mmddHHMM[[cc]yy][.ss]", but 'man date' should explain all that.
