If you use SETI@home under windows, you are probably using SETI driver for the ease and productivity of it. I am looking for people willing to dedicate some of their own precious time to create a SETI driver for Linux, which would act in the same way as the windows driven one. So if you wanna join, let me know.
Hard to say, as the server of SETI@home is down. But it will do the same as the http://www.wakeassoc.com/setidriver/ driver. It's main objective is to fill the buffer with multiple work units at once, show progress in a graphical mode (or not) using tcl/tk or some other libraries. It has to be able to connect to the servers and get new units. But the one most important thing that differs from the original SETI for linux is the option to get multiple units and show progress of the unit as well as statistic of multiple work units.
I will check out the add ons once the server of SETI@home is back on-line.
From memory, I think you are looking to merge 3 or 4 existing add ons to ..... do exactly what you said! I hope you can make it work - it's held me back from using it under Linux, not having the screensaver function I mean.
Yes, this is what I want to do. I believe it will be welcomed in the linux comunity to have an all in one shell script, that imitates SETI driver and works on any distro. I know it won't be easy, but any help is most welcome. So volunteers step forward
I will post my progress here when I make some working progress.
I don't have the skills to be able to work on it (unless someone wants to do a lot of hand-holding), but I would be quite interested in the product. I used S@h while I was a WinBlows user and really want to use it again.
I found the application for KDE that does all of the above mentioned (the cache of files, the statistics, and the server communication. It is called KSETISpy
It works, great. I would like to modify it a little though
