service network restart - mandrake 9.1 problem

my mandrake 9.0 did not have this problem, and my 9.1 on my Compaq presario does not have this problem. i'm running 9.1 and what seems to be a problem with connecting to the Internet is really not a problem because i just noticed that the LEDs on the LinkSys router indicate that the laptop is connected and communicating with it. however, unless i run 'service network restart' or go thru MCC (control center) and hit 'expert mode' then Config Local Area Network and then Activate, then i won't get to actually use the Internet.

i went thru this earlier and some said to turn off the Hotplug using the Wizard, which i did and that seems to be working fine. except ofcourse for the routine of having to manually connect to the Internet even though the LinkSys seems to indicate that I already am....

any suggestions....?

9.1 works as smooth as silk in comparison to 9.0 and 9.2 for me except in a couple tiny issues and thats one of them

thanks
