Sendmail mail goes to dead.letter

I am a Newbie and I hope this is an easy solution, or at least steer me in the right direction! I can email to the world via PINE with no problems. But when I try to email outside of my network via sendmail, my mail keeps going to a dead.letter file.
Any ideas why?

Just guessing, but your sendmail probably isn't configured to send email off your network. I don't know how to change this under Redhat.
