Sendmail Does Not Work!
 

Hi

After spending 3 weeks getting my RH8.0 running with php & mysql, now I am facing problems with my sendmail. It simply can't send or receive emails. It is now become worst as I have used the rpmfind.net to download newer version and forcing it to overwrite & ignore dependencies. Now it is completed DOWN and not accessible using my Webmin. Looking at the Webmin Server section, I saw the Qmail Server icon, so I decided to use the rpmfind.net to download and install it. But unfortunately it says conflict with the sendmail.

arrgghhh! If anyone can help me and let me know how on earth can I simply setup any TYPE of email server that allows me to send and receive emails is greatly appreciated!!!

Then correct your mistakes first. Ignoring deps is almost never a sane thing to do.

Yes, I do agree with you. But till now I am still struggling to get my email working. I am now trying out the Postfix.

postfix is a little more user frendly in my opinion. I use both sendmail and postfix, both are very good.

One suggestion, ditch webmin. If you want to use it for stuff that appears to work go ahead, but you really need to know what's in those config files and what they do. I would say never butcher anything simply because it will not work with webmin. (webmin is at fault)
