Segmentation Fault with ls and other commands

rpm -Uvh glibc-2.5-24.i386.rpm
warning: glibc-2.5-24.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 37017186

[root@localhost Server]# rpm -Uvh glibc-2.5-24.i386.rpm
[root@localhost Server]# /usr/sbin/glibc_post_upgrade: While trying to execute /usr/sbin/iconvconfig.i386 child terminated abnormally
-bash: /usr/sbin/glibc_post_upgrade:: No such file or directory

Machine running redhat enterprise 5.

tried upgrading glibc from glibc-2.5-12 to glibc-2.5-24 and recieved the collowing error. After this point when issuing commands i get a segmentation fault error. I have services like ftp, webmin, ssh, ect running still and I am hesitant to reboot at this point. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried downloading the older glibc-2.5-12 rpm and browsing the rpm on a windows machine pulling out the lib folder and copying that to /tmp for the time being using ftp. I then used ftp to view the properties of /lib/ld-linux.so.2 in ftp and changing the path to /tmp/lib/ld-linux.so.2 i did the same for libc.so.6 same result with the segmentation faults.

If any further information is needed please let me know.
