screensavers not working properly on FC2

I have tried everything... From running these lines of code...
Code:
ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver /usr/lib
ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xscreensaver/config/ /etc/xscreensaver
as described in another thread here at LQ.org Thread ID#: 222238 (Though they were dealing with a different distro than I...). THAT didn't work.

I aslo went through with Synaptic and "COMPLETELY REMOVED" xscreensaver and shortly thereafter reinstalled it.
That didn't work EITHER.

I am a newbie and am really annoyed by some of these problems.

I am running with KDE 3.2.2-6 RedHat with FC2

In a terminal, did you first off execute
xhost +localhost?

Here's what I did just a little bit ago....
Code:
[rageagainstcomputer@localhost rageagainstcomputer]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost rageagainstcomputer]# xhost +localhost
localhost being added to access control list
[root@localhost rageagainstcomputer]# ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xscreensaver/config/ /etc/xscreensaver
ln: `/etc/xscreensaver': File exists
[root@localhost rageagainstcomputer]# ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver /usr/lib
ln: `/usr/lib/xscreensaver': File exists
still doesn't work. Do I have to restart X Destop in order for these things to work?

Um, what exactly isn't working about the screensavers? They never activate? They work fine here ....

i did all that... All the computer does is go to a blank screen. I DID have the bouncing cows earlier. Now it just doesn't work. When I right click on the desktop and "Configure Screen" and click on the button that says screensaver... I can only adjust the slider for the priority of the screensaver, To make the screensaver aware of power management and to start the screensaver automatically after 5 minutes.
Is there a way that I can uninstall the XScreensaver stuff... config files and all and reinstall it and see if it works doing it rough like that?
