Screen size probem with redhat linux 9 installation

Hi,
I am new to Linux, i installed redhat linux 9 on my Dell Dimension 2400 with dual boot. Installation went well. When i accessed linux screen sizes exeeds moniter and i am not able to view fully.Screen lables also overlap on another. Screen fonts and images are too big. On desktop screen lables overlaps also.

My PC has Dell E773c monitor with viedio card intel 82845g/gl/ge..., with resolution 1024 x 768. I tried 800X600 but no change.

I will appreciate if some one can give an idea how to change settings.

with regards,
venkat
