Scanners and 35mm slides

Got my scanner recognized but cannot find out how to scan pics from 35mm slides (before I totally lose these slides from age). I have the LightLid 35 and it is recognized but I am missing something. All I get is a pic of the arm itself holding the slide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What graphics application are you using? kooka, the gimp, or ?

What scanner do you have the LightLid 35 plugged into?

What graphics application are you using? kooka, the gimp, or ?-----------Have used Kooka, and XSane

What scanner do you have the LightLid 35 plugged into?

-----------Microtek ScanMaker V6UPL

XSane has a block that can be checked for the lightlid to come on and the main light to go off .

Do LightLids work with Linux???

Thanks for your replying and help!!!! Appreciate it.
