I'm trying to get my system to dual boot Windows XP and Fedora. I followed these instructions until I got to the part about booting into Linux. The problem was that I could not boot into Linux because GRUB was not loading. It would just skip GRUB and go directly into Windows. I checked Partition Magic to make sure all my partitions were right (and they were). The boot partition was before the 1024th cylinder and everything looked perfect, yet still it wouldn't load GRUB at boot.
I later concluded that the Windows boot loader was maybe overriding GRUB somehow, so I decided to boot into linux rescue and run the commands described in the tutorial. I ran into another problem, however, after I ran "grub-install /dev/hda2" (hda2 is /boot on my machine). The error message returned was "sbin/grub not found". This is where I'm stuck. What do I need to do now?

Consider yourself lucky.
If this command was successful, you would have overwritten files on your /boot.
If you want to use GRUB as the default boot loader, you have to install it in the MBR (Master Boot Record).
Use this command instead.
Code:
grub-install /dev/hda
Note: In rescue mode, you may need to specify the full path. For example:
Code:
/usr/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda
If you can't find the location of grub-install, use the whereis command.
nm, I just decided to install boot magic. Everything works now except for one thing. When I select Linux or Windows, my BIOS gives me this annoying warning that says my boot sector is about to be modified and makes the system speaker give out this really loud high pitched beep. Is there any way to get rid of this?
