Saving Thunderbird Message/Address Files for reinstallation

Hi.

I'm planning to upgrade to a new Linux distribution. The upgrade will require me to remove an existing distribution and replace it with an improved distribution (I'm changing from PCLinuxOS to Mepis 7.0). I would like to save my existing Thunderbird address book along with my existing Thunderbird messages. I am planning to continue to use Thunderbird as my e-mail after I complete the change. What's the best way to save this data so that I can continue to use it after the change?

Thanks much,

Bluemax_36

Just save your profile directory (~/.thunderbird) and you're good to go since that's where it keeps all its information.
