samba question

consider this

i have a directory

/home/common/u1/prosper

there are abt 15 users. out of this 3 users should have full access to this directory, and the rest should only have read and execute permissions to this directory.

how do i do that.

i added the three user to a group and gave full access to that group and r+x rights to the others.

so now the permission look like this

rwxrwxr-x

is it correct?

I know there is a way you can do this with the options available with Samba when setting up a share, because I remember doing this awhile back, but honestly I cant remember how. I believe (forgive me if I'm wrong) there is an option to set up group access to a share and each group can have individual permissions. Again, I THINK this is how I set mine up, its been awhile.

i did the same thing

here prosper is actualy a windows program. so when ever you want to execute the .exe files u also need write permision to the diretory or else it gives permission error.

ok

i will change the question a bit

" there are abt 15 users. out of this 3 users should have full access to this directory, and the rest should only have read , write and execute permissions to this directory but not delete permision."

i known its not possible but there should be some way out
