Samba Linux 25 user LAN

I am testing linux/samba for a possible switch from netware. We have 25 users on the LAN and 30 Gig of data. I would use dump as backup. Has anyone done this and has good or bad experience with this?

hi

As to the dump process, i havent faced that situation, but i can tell u that once u have managed to tranfer your 30GB to the linux-samba pc, it will be more that capable of handling all the traffic.

I have not used dump but I have used Samba to provide backup to Windows users. It worked very well. We used lots of RAM in the samba server

celeron 500 mz
128 MB RAM
60 GB harddisk
and abt 20 users

Test it and see how you go. Linux/UNIX programs generally do what they say on the tin, so you should be OK ;)

This looks like a pretty comprehensive howto.
