Safe to su and reboot

In my machine when i finish the work i do , always as normal user, to reboot/poweroff instead of logging off and login as root to do it i give su && reboot from the console (no X).

Is this safe for the users (data loss may occur ? etc..)??

Will it save the X session if do this from X ???

You could use sudo, to give normal users he ability to run the shutdown, reboot and halt commands. To find more about "sudo" do "man sudo".

Sudo is secure. Anyways, a safe program can be made to be dangerous.
