It depends on what version of X it is, have a look at the driver status page at XFree86.

Xwindow

320X300 ??

got it to work but it does not go into defualt 640X 480

instead 320X300....read it in Xfree.0.log

????

why

using S3trio64 with 512Kb onboard ram?! that is the only config i can get Xwin to wokr even though it is 1mb onboard?

THis is what Xconfigurator probed:
2 the MAXColor S3 Trio64V+
8bit mode in 640x480
IBM 2248 monitor

wierd...

The information on your card is here, you need to have Xfree86-3.3.6 installed for it to work properly, if you have XFree86-4.x.x you'll have problems with that card. Redhat should have both versions on the cd's.

OK HELP!

2 QUESTIONS!

THANKS FOR YOPUR HELP AND HATE TO BE IGNORANT-which I AM!

how DO i know what version of Xwin I have?~
How do I install it?

Aussie 12-18-2001 06:21 PM

1; Type "XFree86 -version" in a terminal window without the quotes to find out what version is installed.
2; You can remove rpm's with "rpm -e *.rpm" where * is the name of the package, and install them with "rpm -Ivh *.rpm" type "man rpm" in a terminal to see all the commands available.

damn it!

Someone made it it loads up into Xwin with Fvwm.... and I can only see half the screen 320 x300-literally half the screen. How to get to Xterm? shit...maybe I jsut ditch this noble idea of running Linux altogether...

Cheers if you can help if not thanks too....
