Running red hat 9 with hdd mounted read only

Hi all,

Does anyone know how i would go about getting a red hat 9 installation to run mounted from a read only hdd?
The reason I ask is this, I'm trying to build a mp3 jukebox out of some old hardware. It will access the network to get mp3s, and play them using playlists etc It won't have a monitor, so it needs to be able to be turned off without shutting down, and without damaging the contents of the hdd

Thanks a lot.

An easy solution if you have a keyboard connected to the PC would be to configure alt-ctrl-del to shutdown via /etc/inittab file.
