Running Nmapfe as non-root user

Hello,

I am trying to run nmapfe as a non-root user. I tried different ways of trying to run nmapfe. For example, I tried 'sux -' (this did not work), 'su -' (this did not work), 'xhost +localhost' --> 'sux -' (this did not work).

The only way that I did get it to work was to do either 'xhost '+ --> 'sux -'
Then I would do 'xhost -' when I am done using nmapfe. This is not really efficient. The other way it worked is by using the 'runas' within kde. My question to you, what command is 'runas' under kde a GUI wrapper for?

I am trying to write a script to run nmap.

Thanks for your help.

I do not know the answer to your question but I have one for you: when trying to run nmapfe as non-root, why not just run the command "nmapfe", are you logged on as root? Cause you shouldn't.

Regards.

Hello...

I belive you asked me two questions. First, I am not root when I run nmapfe. I know better than that! :-)
I hope this answers your second question...When I try to run nmapfe as a basic user. I don't think you get a good scan when using nmap. Because when you launch nmapfe, you get the message "You are not ROOT...some options are not available."

Oh, I see. I use gksu for that.
