running a program through windows machine

Hi I use a program called putty (ssl telnet)on my windows machine to access my linux box. Is it possiable to run a program (bitchx) on my linux box and close down my windows machine without stoping bitchx (at moment when I close putty bitchx stops)also would it be possiable to then restart my windows machine and go back into bitchx whitch is still running.

try "nohup bitchx &" you can't go back into it though. for that you'd need to use a program like "screen" to create a virtual console which you can connect to as and when you wish.

Thanks for the reply acid were do I get screen from is it a windows program or a linux prog.
