running a linux cluster

Hi, I have just recently been given the responsibilty of setting up a 16 node (dual processors) cluster running on Linux (obviously).

The specifics:

16 custom boxes all I know is that they are 450 MHz dual processors.
A HP ProCurve switch 400M
and Belkin OmniView PRO2 Series 8-Port KVM Switch with On-Screen Display

The hardware is all setup.

My problem is that after the machines boot up
This is what I get

[[Red Hat]] Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
[[Kernel]] 2.4.18 on an i686

localhost login: _

This is gonna sound lame but I what login do I use.

I don't know what the login name is, I think I have a password but I'm not sure if its correct.

If I need to login as a single user how is tha done?

I'm new at this and need help. Thanks

Welcome to LQ.

I'd imagine you want the user "root" and whatever the root password is.
