Hi all
Lately I have been writing about rsync issues.
To summarize the timestamps are all goofed up when I copy files to my network drive (an Iomega with cifs).
I devised a work around where I use the file-size to determine whether or not rsync should create a new file.
My test procedure is simple. In a test directory I put a random text document. I upload it using this script:
Code:
rsync --verbose --progress --stats --size-only --recursive --times --perms --links --exclude=".*/" --delete /home/shane/test/ /media/network_drive/test/
Next, on my computer I edit the file, just throw some random text in there. The I run the above script again, and open the file on the network drive to see if it has changed.
It never does change. But if I look at the hidden files the updated file is located in there.
I need to be able to make the updated file be the only file in there.
I've been all over google and the forums.... any help you all can give would totally rock.
