rpm packages

what does it mean when one rpm package conflicts with another?

ex:

rpm <= 4.0-0.65 conflicts with glibc-2.2.2-10
glibc >= 2.1.92 conflicts with rpm-4.0.2-5x

When you install an RPM or any binary or build source, the RPM in this case requires a certain glibc version and is saying 2.2.10 ain't it, likewise with other progs. The program checks for dependancies and if they aren't right, it's telling you that you can't use that version of that program with that lib version.
