rpm -e mysql???

i have installed mysql3.23.52 when i was installing my RH8. now, ok, i want to uninstall it, and install a new version mysql4.0.12.
ok! the problem is that, when i prompt
# rpm -e mysql
then the system prompts me, mysql is needed by perl-DBD-MySQL.
ok, fine, then, i go to uninstall perl-DBD-MySQL
i prompt again,
# rpm -e perl-DBD-MySQL
weird, the system prompts me again, saying perl-DBD-MySQL is needed by
mysql.
Headache, when i look at this. then, i go to my Package Manager to uninstall the whole DB package. ok, after i have done, i prompt again
# rpm -qa | grep mysql
huh, it still there....
Oh... my godness, how come it won't disappear from my eyes? How am i proceed to install mySQL 4.0.12???

pls help!

If you know what you're doing use
rpm -e --nodeps <PackageInQuestion>
:)

If it's just a case of a screwed-up
rpm database you could try
rpm --rebuilddb

Cheers,
Tink

P.S.: Personally I believe that RPM sucks ;)
