Root Permission to user ???
 
Hi Everyone

i am using redhat 9 ,i have to create

the username and the i have to five the root

permission to the particular user ,how to do that

Helping this issue will be greatly appriciated

Hmm...
I'm not going to try this on my system, but can you just delete the root account and give your new one a UID and GID of 0?

ya thanks for the reply

but i dont want to delete the root account

i want create the new user account and then i have give

root permission for that account

please tell me syntax for that

You might run into alot of trouble doing that.

The best solution is to create a normal user and log as the superuser.

This way, you should avoid giving a bad command to your system.

Why do you have to do this? What are you trying to achieve?

Maybe sudo is all you need.

I don't recommend it, but you can have more than one user name with user id 0 in /etc/password. I've tried it and it works. Not sure what the ramifications are.
