Root Login Not Allowed

I'm running on a dual boot WinXP/Fedora 5 (kernel 2096) laptop. I recently uninstalled and then installed Gnome-Desktop because the gnome-terminal stopped launching. My only user account is root (I will add a user I have access to the desktop), I used YUM to remove and install the gnome-desktop plus some additional gnome programs....my last command was yum cleanup all. I logged out and now the login splash screen is different. When I try to login under root i get the following message "Root login is not allowed" When I login in under a fake account I get a KDE critical message plut a error log report (I can't find this report). I accessed the console by pressing CTRL ALT F1 and logged in as root and edited the etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc to allow for root login. I changed the AllowRootLogin boolean to TRUE from FALSE. I go back to the login in screen and nothing changes.....Thanks for the help.

Boot to the command line instead of an x session.
Then type:
adduser username
where username is the name you want

then you should be able to start an x session and log in with that user
