RHN = free???


I'm updating my PC with RHN right now! Did it just become free all of a sudden??

well, I used Redhat a year ago or so, and even then I could access the RHN; though I had to register...

So AFAIK it was free for some time

RHN is free, but only for the life of the OS. RH has something like an 18month life span on their OSs now except RHE as that has IIRC a 3yr life span on them.

if you want you can PAY for their premium service and this gives you first access and higher speed access to their updates/patches via RHN.

i do not know the details on the FC line, but unless RH has majorly changed its way of doing things since FC1 was released then RHN should still be free, but you may not always be able to access the patches unless you pay for the service.

Just use yum or apt, they work better anyways.
