RH9 and Xconfigurator

I installed Red Hat 9 on my wife's notebook computer and am unable to change the change the resolution from 800 X 600 to 1024 X 768. I tried changing the resolution through the GUI by clicking System Settings\Display but, it does not work. Any ideas?
