Repartitioning without reinstalling

How can I repartition my harddrive so that I can use multiple partitions without having to wipe the harddrive and reinstall everything? The only thing on the harddrive is the / partition and the swap partition. I still have 8.13 G of space out of 10.71 G.

You only have 2.6GByte on the disk?? That means not much data to backup (before doing anything else.. )
Almost easier to just re-install---certainly less confusing.

Problem with that is that I'm using one of those live cd distros that don't allow you to reinstall into multiple partitions.
