removing applet handles for a seemless panel

Is there anyway to remove the applet handles in KDE 3.1 to give the panel a more seemless looks similar to gnome? I just want one solid panel without the seperations between the quicklaunch icons, taskbar, system tray, and the clock- it drives me crazy. Thank you!

hello,
right click your panel and go to Panel Menu>Configure Panel...
then click the "appearance" icon to the left of the panl config window.
look towards the bottom there is a button that says "advanced options," click it
check the box that says fade out applet handles.

you may have to refresh your desktop a few times before you see the results, but it should work:-)
