Question Removing a Kerenl Module from Startup

I'm having a problem removing a module from the kernel on startup.
In particular, prism54. It's causing conflicts.

I attempted editing /etc/modules.conf, attempting modprobe -r, etc. I am able to remove the module by executing rmmod prism54. After doing so, I remove my Netgear WG511, plug it back in, and am able to connect to the net. My hope is that by disabling prism54 on startup the conflict (which is with Linuxant's DriverLoader, btw) will just disappear.

Distro: Gentoo 2004.2
Kernel: 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 (smp)

Reading hasn't turned up to much... but I'm still plugging away at it.

Have you tried adding it to /etc/hotplug/blacklist?
good luck.

Most excellent! That worked perfectly.
Everything runs right on startup now.

4 more problems to work through... 2 half solved
