Remount filesystem without mount command?

Hello there,

does anybody know a way to remount a filesystem without a working mount tool? We've got a system here where mount just returns an input/output error instead of doing anything useful.

So to examine the reasons for this problem we need to remount a filesystem by hand.

Is there a way to do that with just plain bash internal commands an the kernel?

Thanks a lot!

Hendrik

To get to the cause you should 0) check your system logs for clues, 1) list the actual command and error messages, 2) give an overview of file system specs and whatever problems occurred leading up to this and 3) run a full strace for clues.
