remotely using nedit (or any other xwindows program)

I have a computer at work that I need to log into but not being able to nedit my program is getting really annoying.

I have to telnet to a server onsite and then from there telnet into my box at work. I've tried to set the enviornmental DISPLAY varible to read my_ip:0 on both servers, but that doesn't help any.

I've done xhost + for both boxes too.

Still, I can't get anything from my work box to show up here at my computer.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I would probably just use 'ssh -X' instead of telnet so that the DISPLAY gets set correctly (and automatically).

My guess is the server is having a tough time resolving your workstation. I've run into issues once you jump from one server to another with telnet especially if you are behind a firewall. Basic troubleshooting question is can you ping or come back directly the other way to your home workstation?

Unfortunately the server that I have to log into first doesn't allow ssh.

I can ping my PC at home no problem.
