Remote upgrade of dist to newer major version.
Hi everyone,
I have a box running RedHat 7.3 and I want to upgrade it to RedHat9 at least, maybe Fedora2. I could very well upgrade the box from the ISOs but I feel like trying something new. How about upgrading with apt-get? It seems like it's possible, but I haven't been able to gather a reliable list of pros and cons. I have upgraded my redhat-release rpm to v9 but haven't dared making the upgrade yet. What are the horror upgrade stories using apt-get to do that and what are their cause? What are other ways of upgrading a distribution without accessing the system physically? In the end this is what I'm interested to achieve. Thanks! |
whatever you do.. backup ;)
