refreshing network settings...


This might be slackware-specific, it might not. I'm assuming it's not.

Let's say that I have to run a network config program, and then I choose dhcp. What command will run the right program so I don't have to reboot to see the changes take place?

ifconfig eth0 down
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1

so type that all in? Or just "init 3" or whatever my runlevel is?

No, init 3 will be for runlevel 3 and restart more services than just network services. If you want to just refresh the network settings do what Tink mentioned.

# ifconfig eth0 down
# /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
