Hi
well by searching this forum

it is in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 piece of mine;

# HorizSync is in kHz unless units are specified.
# HorizSync may be a comma separated list of discrete values, or a
# comma separated list of ranges of values.
# NOTE: THE VALUES HERE ARE EXAMPLES ONLY. REFER TO YOUR MONITOR'S
# USER MANUAL FOR THE CORRECT NUMBERS.
HorizSync 31.5-94.0

# VertRefresh is in Hz unless units are specified.
# VertRefresh may be a comma separated list of discrete values, or a
# comma separated list of ranges of values.
# NOTE: THE VALUES HERE ARE EXAMPLES ONLY. REFER TO YOUR MONITOR'S
# USER MANUAL FOR THE CORRECT NUMBERS.
VertRefresh 50-90

do a man XF86Config
and make sure not to overdo things !
your chosen resolution combined with the above ranges
will make your refresh. There are ways to make it fixed,
but i never use that and the 85 Hz i get now are fine.
good luck
