Refresh Rate - 0hz

Hi all -

Anyone know why X would show my screen refresh rate at 0hz?

I have a Vaio VGN-FJ170/B. i915GM chipset. Slackware 10.2.

I was unable to load the i915 module that the dri snapshot compiles, so I reverted back to monkeying with the vesa driver per a thread a saw on the gentoo forums. I finally got my 1280x800 resolution, looks great, 635.00 FPS in glxgears, but the refresh rate is 0hz.

I used ' gtf 1280 800 75' to get a Modeline for my xorg.conf. I came up with the 75 by checking to see what Windows XP sets the default refresh rate to when the Intel drivers are loaded for the display adapter.

Like I said, I now have 1280x800 in X, looks great, but should I be concerned with that 0hz reading?

Any help appreciated,
Scott

If the monitor's working fine, no need to worry

I'm sure there's an easy solution to this -- it's reading your monitor incorrectly, there's a setting, et cetera, but it's not something I'd worry about, though it would be nice to still find the answer.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not going to worry about it, like you said.

Hopefully with the next release of Xorg i'll be able to make use of the built in i915 driver.

Scott
