Redhat linux 8.0 freezes at "partition check" during installation

I have installed a new HDD, a Seagate baracuda ST380011A 80GB, when i try to install RedHat linux 8.0 on this Drive it stops at "Partition Check". I have left it in this state for about 15 minutes as there seems to be some HDD actibity but even after 15 minutes the message screen still says "partition check". I have check the partition and they seem to be fine. I have tried changing the mode of the HDD in BIOS "LBA", "NORMAL", "LARGE" but in all of these modes the installation stops at the "partition check" during initial boot up, when the kernel starts up. The HDD is detected fine as per the "dmesg" message.

Can some body put some light on this please?

Thanks,

-- Murthy
