RedHat kernel compiling

I know I should I build my own kernel, because RedHat's is too bulky and not optimized for a Pentium 2. I also know that I need to have a special config file so I can correctly compile the kernel. Does anyone know where I can get a config file for kernel 2.4.18 and RedHat 7.2? And also a website that walks through the the whole process of compiling.

Do you think its safe to use up2date and get RedHat's latest kernel using RPM?

Get the kernel source RPM and the kernel header rpm and place them in your /usr/src/ directory and install them. This will place a folder in your /usr/src/ directory.

From here, (I'm not kidding) get a book or read up exactly how you should go about it. I can givve you generic instructions but there could be idiosyncracies for your distribution.
