What is this???
A lot of commands have been moved or remove in RedHat. Xconfigurator is not even there and we end up with distribution command like redhat-config-mouse!!! Isn't that strange? why moving away from things that works?
Is it the same for the structure of directories? Does other distribution are doing that kind of move, i don't realy like what almost-commercial way of promoting...
"Almost commercial"??! Did you download that distribution? Whose bandwidth did you use? How was that bandwidth made possible? Did it cost you anything? There's nothing wrong with these people making money. I think that there's nothing wrong with essentially renaming scripts which do exactly the same as before.
You can of course see that they do exactly the same thing as before, because all of the redhat code is still GPL or similar source license. Isn't that what counts at the end of the day?
There are people who write really important software for the kernel and they do it for free because of that bandwidth on company servers to download the software you're taking for granted.
How did you earn that bandwidth provided by redhat and everyone else? If you didn't earn it, it's best not to use it and inexcusable to complain about it.
Don't get me wrong Bert, i do use RH and i promote it to my students i like the product and i am happy with it...i am also more than happy that they can make money with it. I always recommand RehHat because of the quick evolution of the product.
Where i am concern is that i beleave that the idea behind GPL is the construction of blocks that fits together to make a house and all bricks as to be standard... Isn't it the reason why FHS was created? I am concerned that they can get away from standard.
But again, i am new to linux and my opinion may be naive and if i am wrong then, i am please if someone get me back on the right track.
Regards
