Unhappy Red hat 7.2 receiving email problem

Hi guys ...

I installed RH 7.2 and I really like it. The only problem I have is to configure my pop3 server.
I can send email or messages between users (from the server) but I can receive emails from other compjuters. I setup qpopper and it looks like it works fine. With my outlook express I can connect to my account. The problem, I have is that I never receive emails... I send myself emails and I don't receive them.

I can send emails from each accounts and the address ise user@mydomain.com... I have a dsl connection ... means that my ip address isn't static, that's why I'm using a mydomain.tzo.com

Does anyone know what I have to do?

Thanks

Nick

Ok ... the problem is not the mail client ... it's the server who doesn't receive the emails ...

let say ... If I send an email to user@localhost from pine, I can get it with OE and pine ...

So the problem is with the server receiving the email and give it to the right user...

Can anyone help me?

sounds to me like a sendmail problem, or ratehr an smtp server problem. have you actually set one up properly? sendmail should be installed, on the server, but it's default setting is to only accept emails to itself. you have to make it accept conenctions from a network. if you are usng sendmail, check the doc's for it. and look at /etc/mail/sendmail.mc for anythign that's wrong. there's comments in ther.. so you *should* get a Homeresque DOH! moment....

and don't use netscape 6.2 mail. it's toss.

Like I said, the problem is with receiving emails ... I can send emails no problem to anyone.

I finally received the emails I was trying to send sincer yesterday ... The error says, Relaying denied... My server refused the email because it cannot relay it to the right user ... That's what I think.

btw... I changed the network in sendmail.mc and it does the same thing

hmm.. see stick. hold wrong end...

If you're getting relaynig denied messages, then that's genreally a sendmail error. look at /var/log/maillog.

so, your problem is that you can't get mails from the server to a local windows machine... well surely it's the imap server that's messed up... you have got imapd running on the server i take it?

ok it seems you don't understand the problem ... Forget about other computers... My problem is:

Let's say you send me an email to my address: user@blah.tzo.com My account user won't receive the email.

So, I can send email, but my linux box doesn't receive them... basically it receives it but it doesn't give it to the right user, it sends an email back saying:

well, going by that it's sendmail still. sendmail is responsible for taking emails and delivering them to users internally, as well as sending them out to other mail servers. like i said look at the end of /var/log/maillog

personally i've no idea what MX records are all about, i've a mail server on rh71, and i never needed to touch my MX records... so i've not learnt about them.
