I have that problem, that I deleted a directory in my Desktop directory (in Gnome, removed it to trash and emptied it). Is there a possibility to recover the whole folder with its contents? The FS is reiserfs.
The shortest answer is "not if Gnome rm'ed the files", the longer answer is "probably not, but have a look at http://antrix.net/posts/2004/reiserf...ecovery-howto/ and back everything up before doing anything risky to the filesystem". (I'm sure there are other pages that have information if you google for them, too...)
Ok, actaully I looked for some forensics possibility, without having to fiddle with the whole partition. For the future it is a worthy recommendation, though. Thank you.
