I am running SuSE 9.0. I am pretty new to Linux and I am trying to find a good reference book that I will help me out. Any suggestions?

Try the following:

Linux Newbie Guide
The Linux Cookbook

I could recommend several others, but these three are freely available on the web and I have found them to be a great resource.
