Reboot hangs

I'm having a problem rebooting.

It appears that it's rebooting fine but then all I get is my monitor going black (like the OS shutdown) and the analog/digital message being displayed in the upper left-hand corner.

Shutdown works fine though.

Are there some log files I can look through that might give me a clue as to what's happening?

i assume you have a desktop. I use Mandriva but in /etc/rc6 see if you have a acpid (daemon) that is executable.

If you have a control panel click on services and enable acpi (or install it) and you may need to enable power management

Thanks aus9.

I'll give it a shot when I get home and will post back the results.
