re: compatibility of USB oscilloscope modules

Does anyone know whether USB oscilloscope modules work under Linux or is it only a viable option under Windows?

My question is whether there are economically viable USB scope modules that are Linux friendly AND cost as much as those compatible with main stream OSs.

I assuming no replies apart from the previous one suggesting a very costly alternative, imply that, Linux does NOT support this type of hardware. To spend several times more for an equivalent product does not make sense.

Unwillingly, for it is because of constraints, I will use MS Windows for that. A manufacturer supporting Linux does not have the heavenly right to charge several times more for an equivalent product and it doesn't make sense. Many people choose GNU/Linux because it is free and open.

I am complainig because it is not the first time that someone has given me links to Linux compatible hardware that is far too costly to buy. Once, I was directed to a site which sells Linux certified laptops that cost over $5000! This is unimaginable in this day and age.

If I am to choose between an exorbitantantly priced hardware certified to support Linux and MS Windows, I am constrained to go with the latter even though freedom and openess are very attractive.

Please, forgive me for my rant.
