Unhappy RDS - Radio clock/date ERRORS

As anyone come across this problem before, as I am interested to find an answer. The Car and Radio are about 10 years old.

I have Siemens car radio details below:-

That if RDS is switch on them the TIME will set correctly but the DATE is always WRONG ie. it is always the a day earlier.

If RDS is OFF them the set DATE and TIME remain correct all the time.

I have also replaced the radio with another CDR500E made by a different manufature with the same results!

Vauxhall Car Radio

GM SIEMENS VDO
495086337
No: 24 469 302
Type CDR500E
2F4
RCD302-01
BAR CODES
A2C53057593
BS0004422441511

If you cannot help but could point me in the right direction that would be very helpful.

Thanks

Rich

My first guess is the RDS chipset or receiver has some kind of firmware bug in decoding the clock signal. The two radio manufactures might use the same ICs which is why you saw the same error.

I agree michaelk.
I have been unable to get any help from Vauxhall or Siemens.

As a radio & television engineer (retried) none of the above were able to shed any light on the problem.
