So I tried to install mandy 8.2 on a 1.4 t-bird/DDR system which is happily running windows2k with no probs and I got a Kernel panic (I created a thread for this a few nights ago).

So I had RH 7.3 handy and decided to see if it gave me the same prob. Nope! It went through However.. during the installation process... a few packages will install and then it'll just hang... I power down, let it sit (thinking it may be a heat problem) and TADA! I get a little farther but, I rebooted without time to cool off completely and it still gives me the same.... CD rom isn't reading but my ALT+CTRL+Fx keys work just fine, mouse responds... etc. it's just the installation stalling.

Any ideas? Windows2K installed just fine on same system. GRRR!

Just tried the SAME cds that have worked on some systems (which were all pentiums and K6-2s) but not on this 900mhz Athlon and the 1.4 t-bird. However, with this machine (the 900) i got to 85% or so and it just froze. (using RH 7.3) what gives?

I have been using the same hard drive so it MAY be hard drive problems... it's an older 15gig but Im still thinking it's heat.. dunno. Going to attach the water cooling rig and see if thats the prob. This sucks!
