Random Lock ups
 

I think X or KDE is locking up on me, If I leave my computer on for any period of time it will eventually lock up. I think it is only X or KDE because when I have XMMS playing and the system locks up, XMMS keeps playing as normal, doesn't skip a beat. But I am frozen out of the system. I really don't have a clue as to where to start trouble shooting. Right now I just need some suggestions on where to start. If you need more info please say so and I will Divulge. Thanks

Can you tell us more about the hardware you are using, e.g. type of mouse, keyboard...?

The problem can lie in a small corner. I had the same symptom a few years ago. Cause: a trust wheel mouse on the PS/2 port. Remedy: connecting it to the serial port....

Well I have a generic keyboard, and a Logitec Optical Wheel mouse (2 button, with scroller), And I have a dual monitor setup with 2 Viewsonic A75f's, Video card is a Geforce 4 mx440, sound is a hercules muse 5.1, Creative 8x DVD, HP 8200+ 4/4/24 CD writer.

The lock up seems to happen with I have two konqueror windows open (in this case, in the same directory), and I try moving files between the two.

that help any?
