RAID in Linux 2.4.21 advice

I've been trying to set up my server recently and I am completely overwhelmed with all the documentation out there for setting up raid out there...and most of it is all so old. If someone could provide some advice that would be great.

I want to run RAID-1 with 2 disks and I am booting off of a separate disk. The RAID array will store NON-ROOT data only...databases and other important data. I have a Promise SX-4000 and I need to know which of the three solutions would be best for my system. I am running Slackware 9.0.

After reading countless how-to's I figured out that there are several ways to get RAID working with this particular card...the md driver, the ft driver (from Promise) and the ataraid driver. It seems that the ft driver is not recommended especially since my os is not specifically supported. Just need to know the solution that I should use. Thanks!
