Raid Controller disabling

Hi
i have an asus A7N8x deluxe nforce2 mobo but it has sata raid
on bootup of any linux distro it tries to look for these raid drives..although there arent any in atm
and it takes about 1min or so and eventually it comes up with

"hde - no response (status = 0xfe)"
and the same with hdg

the problem is ..this cant be disabled in the bios..so is there anyway of stopping linux from trying to detect these drives at bootup?

Thanks
Kane

physically on the board to the right of the 2 sata ports there is the SATA controller from Silicon Image and the CMOS battery. Falling between these is the SATA_EN1 jumper to enable (default) or disable
