[SOLVED] Quick Question: rm -r

Hi,

I just logged in as root and used rm -r on a file directory, but is this the same thing as deleting it?

Yup. To quote the rm man page:

remove directories and their contents recursively

       rm - remove files or directories

DESCRIPTION
       This  manual  page  documents  the GNU version of rm.  rm removes each
       specified file.  By default, it does not remove directories.


       By  default,  rm does not remove directories.  Use the --recursive (-r
       or -R) option to remove each listed directory, too, along with all  of
       its contents.
