Quick 'n' easy question!

I'm about ready to bring my server online, but I wanna set my box to something other than localhost.localdomain. How would one go about doing this?

Also, this wouldn't be a problem cause I'm gonna change it, but I have more than one linux box, so if they had the same name on the network, would they conflict?

Use the hostname command.

how? I can't figure it out

edit - When I do hostname -v osrv.grey, it says it changed it, and when I type hostname, it says osrv.grey, but the ftp server says it's still on localhost.localdomain and when I reboot, hostname says it's back to localhost.localdomain ...

Sorry. I think it goes somewhere in /etc - try /etc/hostname

edit: nope ... don't got it ... the networking fails with the new name ...

got it!

I changed the value in /etc/sysconfig/network. Thanks anyways

You could always give netconfig a shot. That is if you have it. I know it's in slack.
